William Shatner recording metal album

In this A.V. Club post, I learned today about something that made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. “In a good way?” you ask? Yes. And no.

William Shatner is supposedly fashioning a metal album out of his awesomeness, along with personalities like Peter Frampton, Mike Inez, Steve Howe of Yes, Ian Paice of Deep Purple, Brian May of Queen, and Bootsy Collins.

According to this post:

Our sources in the studio today said it was “too early to confirm a lot of the artists and songs” but that “what’s been recorded so far is fucking amazing, he is fucking amazing”.

So, could be awesome…I’ll keep an eye on it, f’sho.

An angry mutant fetus violently writhed its way through the rotting birth canal of the blogosphere, and the new Knuckles First was born. Clicking the ‘Upload’ button has never been so brutal. Uh, sooo I think our new shit’s pretty hot, ya? Maybe more exciting is the notion that having the new version pretty much finalized means we’ll be renewed in our dedication to post more awesome shit way more often. Sound good? All systems are go.

New logo, new digs, new metal*, new ideas, new energy, new brunswick, and maybe even new people coming on board. But, talk is cheap, so on with the blogging.

I’m sitting here watching the clock tick tock tick tock, excited like a little girl waiting for her birthday party… I love holiday weekends. I, myself, am headed up north a couple of hours as soon as my workday is through to spend the weekend with great friends and all our dogs haha… eating ridiculously yummy bbq and watching the boys blow stuff up. So while I think it’s awesome that we’re observing the birthday of our country this weekend, I think it’s also worth noting that metal is still fucking kickin it too. Do yourself a favor and hit a show, buy a t-shirt, pick up an album… it’s summer. Let’s celebrate.

Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza – Sounds Like They Still Rule

Here in my hand I hold one of the MANY bottles of Crown Royal downed the first time I met the dudes in Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza, (during a hostile takeover – anyone remember those?! – with Despised Icon.) That pic is just a glimpse – Danza knows how to have a good time. Oh, and they are also ridiculously talented in the studio and on the stage… at least, that’s what I heard from the back parking lot when I flew to Dallas to see them play… and then proceeded to MISS their set.

So you would imagine how super excited I was to learn that Danza (out of Nashville) is back on the road with Through The Eyes of The Dead, Impending Doom, Arsonists Get All The Girls and Chelsea Grin (and is actually going to be playing JUST mere blocks away from me here in Richmond at the Canal Club later in the month…) PLUS they released the first song off their upcoming record Danza III “I Am Sammy Jankis” – to listen:

DragonForce Split With Singer

Just got the word from the fine folks at Roadrunner Records that DragonForce is moving forward without the vocal prowess of ZP Theart.

“It is with great regret that DragonForce announce a parting of the ways with singer ZP Theart. This is due to insurmountable differences of musical opinion but the rest of the band sincerely wishes ZP great success with his future projects.”

The band has begun a global search for his replacement immediately: “We are looking for a powerful, melodic singer to write a new chapter of DragonForce with us.” said guitarist Herman Li.

Evergreen Terrace – Everlong Cover

I’m such a sucker when it comes to covers, I’m not afraid to admit that I enjoyed the Punk Goes Series. But Evergreen Terrace have posted a new cover of Foo Fighters Everlong on MySpace (are band really still using MySpace?), I say go check it out, it’s good. But this also has me wondering, is there another Punk Goes 90′s on the way? I hope so.
